As part of the ongoing celebrations of the 9th Foundation Week from 22nd to 28th September, Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, organized a Face Painting Competition, Rangmanch, on 24th September. The event, hosted by the Cultural Wing of the Student Enrichment Cell, showcased the artistic talents and social consciousness of the students. In her inaugural address, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, welcomed the participants and commended the Cultural Wing for fostering platforms where art meets societal issues. She emphasized the importance of creativity as a powerful medium for communicating ideas on culture, justice, and social awareness.
The competition featured a wide range of themes, including folk culture, the promotion of tribal heritage, the concept of justice, the environmental crisis following the recent landslides in Himachal Pradesh, and the paradoxes surrounding feminism. The diverse and colorful paintings reflected the students’ deep engagement with cultural identity, environmental responsibility, and pressing societal concerns.
The judging panel, led by Dr. Ruchi Gupta and Ms. Arzoo Chaudhary, praised the participants for their imagination and originality, highlighting how creative expressions like these contribute to intellectual and social dialogue. The event underscored HPNLU’s commitment to nurturing cultural diversity and promoting inclusivity on campus.
As part of the University’s Foundation Week celebrations, the Face Painting Competition also reaffirmed HPNLU’s mission to blend scholarship with cultural engagement, fostering an environment where both tradition and progress are celebrated. The winners of the competition were awarded certificates and mementos by Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena. HPNLU’s Foundation Week continues to serve as a tribute to the institution’s journey, bringing together students, faculty, and the community in celebration of its achievements and future aspirations.
