Shimla, March 9
A violent clash between two groups of students was reported near the Law Faculty of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla, on Monday afternoon. Following a telephonic information received at Baluganj Police Station, a police team was immediately dispatched to the spot.
According to the police, the statement of Mukesh Kumar (24), a resident of Tissa in Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh, was recorded under Section 173 of the BNSS. In his complaint, he stated that around 1:30 PM on March 9, he along with his friends Yograj, Dhanraj and Aman Kumar was standing in the premises of the HPU Law Faculty when Mohit Dogra suddenly came out of the faculty gate.
The accused allegedly pulled out a sharp knife and began threatening the group. During the altercation, Mohit Dogra reportedly attacked Dhanraj with the knife, injuring him. Dhanraj sustained injuries and started bleeding from the stomach. He was immediately rushed to IGMC Shimla for treatment.
Based on the complaint, Baluganj Police have registered FIR No. 40/2026 dated March 9, 2026 under Sections 109 and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police have initiated further investigation into the incident.
