The Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) staff and instructors’ salaries were not made public. Their rage is growing as a result. Teachers and other staff members staged a one-hour sit-in outside the vice chancellor’s office to protest the delayed salary disbursement. In order to avoid interfering with work, workers organized a sit-in after 1:00 pm. Many teachers and employee leaders spoke out during the sit-in and called for the wage to be paid as soon as possible.
According to Prof. Yograj, vice president of the Himachal Pradesh University Teachers Welfare Association, and Dr. Ankush, general secretary, there is a monthly wage payment delay. According to the organization, the movement will continue if a long-term solution is not found soon. He stated that the association’s delegation will speak with the governor about this issue shortly. He said that while other state employees received their salaries on schedule, state university staff’ morale was suffering since their salaries had not yet been released. The group forewarned that teachers will step up their activism and embark on a hunger strike in the future.
