A Fortuner car and an HRTC bus were damaged after being hit by stones falling from a mountain near Ur Ki Dhakki in Pangi area of Chamba district. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. All the passengers in the vehicles are safe. According to the people present at the spot, when the bus and car were passing near Ur Ki Dhakki in the afternoon, stones started falling from above. The drivers immediately stopped the vehicle and tried to take the passengers to a safe place, due to which a major accident was averted. However, the glass of the vehicles broke and many other parts of the bus have suffered a lot of damage. SDM Pangi Raman Gharsangi said that at present this route is not at all safe for travel. Due to the continuous falling of stones from the hill, a major accident can happen at any time.
He has appealed to the local people and tourists not to travel on this route except in case of very important work or emergency. He also said that HRTC bus services have been suspended on this route until the situation becomes normal. Also, the administration has instructed the Public Works Department to keep a constant vigil on the condition of the road and install warning boards in dangerous areas. The administration has warned people that during the rainy season, there is a danger of landslides and falling stones in most areas of the Pangi Valley. In such a situation, it will be safe for everyone to avoid unnecessary travel.
