Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation’s Managing Director Sandeep Kumar himself checked the facilities of the electric buses that came to Dharamshala depot. During this, he himself tried it by driving the bus. He drove the bus from Dharamshala bus stand to Mata Kunal Patthari Temple and during this time the officials of the company present in the bus took information from the technical staff about the facilities provided in the bus. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu was supposed to flag off all these buses, but due to bad weather, the inauguration program had to be canceled due to postponement of the Chief Minister’s visit. On the other hand, the MD who reached Dharamshala checked all the buses and even drove a bus himself.
During this, he said that 15 electric buses have been received at Dharamshala depot under Smart City. These will be run in different areas. The cost of a bus is around 1.25 crores and covers a distance of 150 kilometers on a single charge. HRTC’s diesel bus runs 3.5 kilometers in one litre, which costs Rs 30-35 diesel and the operation cost of a diesel bus is around Rs 57, while an electric bus will cost Rs 33 per kilometer. In such a situation, there will definitely be a benefit of Rs 24-25 from the electric bus. Sandeep Kumar said that the vision of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu is to have more and more electric buses and other vehicles in the state, so let’s see in future how many diesel buses can be replaced with electric ones.
