Due to continuous heavy rains in Himachal for the last one week, the wheels of HRTC buses have come to a halt. Due to the closure of roads across the state, the routes of buses are getting affected. The situation is such that the buses are standing at the bus stands. On Tuesday, bus services were halted on about 862 routes. The buses were also stuck on the routes on which the corporation sent buses, due to which the passengers had to face trouble. Buses were stuck on about 241 routes. After temporarily restoring the road with great difficulty on many routes, the buses were able to reach their destination. Due to heavy rains, bus services were halted on most routes in Kullu and Chamba. Bus services were halted on 152 routes in Chamba and 93 routes in Kullu. In the coming days, buses will remain halted on the routes of Kullu until the roads are opened.
Apart from this, bus services were disrupted in other units of the corporation including 90 in Rohru, 78 in Rampur, 44 in Karsog, 46 in Taradevi, 45 in Bilaspur, 44 in Keylong, 26 in Dharamshala, 40 in Shimla local. Corporation officials said that due to heavy rains, roads are closed in most of the districts of the state. It is becoming very difficult to run buses on these routes, so as soon as the roads are restored, buses will be made available on the routes. Due to the closure of the bus operations of the corporation, the corporation is incurring a loss of more than 1 crore per day. Due to which the income of the corporation has halved.
HRTC Vice President Ajay Verma said that buses are not being operated due to the closure of roads across the state. More than 850 routes are closed every day in the state. At the same time, buses are getting stuck on the routes. Apart from this, the corporation is continuously running buses in the districts where the road route is good. Due to the stoppage of bus operations, the corporation is also incurring a loss of crores of rupees every day.
