HRTC will replace 1000 old buses this year. Orders have been placed for purchasing 600 new buses. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said this in response to MLA Randhir Sharma’s question during the Question Hour in the Assembly on Wednesday. During this, MLAs Bikram Thakur and Hansraj also asked supplementary questions. The Deputy Chief Minister said that initially there was talk of converting 1500 buses into electric buses in the state. The work of converting them is being done in a phased manner in the state. The Center says that one lakh buses are being converted into electric buses across the country, so the company does not have time. He said that tenders were floated for electric buses in the state. Provision has also been made in the tender for bus purchase and maintenance for 10 years. This bus will cost Rs. 1.25 crore and the maintenance will cost Rs. 40 to 45 crore. Currently, 327 electric buses are being purchased through NABARD, for which supply orders are being issued to the bidding company.
The company has sought 11 months’ time for the delivery of these buses. Apart from this, HRTC is purchasing 250 diesel buses on its own. Apart from this, orders have also been given to purchase 100 Tempo Travellers. Apart from this, 100 more Tempo Travellers are being purchased. Agnihotri said that HRTC is also purchasing Type-2 electric buses and in view of the geographical conditions of the state, HRTC wanted to make some changes in it, but the Center has refused this. He said that he had also met the Union Minister in this regard, but he clarified that the state governments do not have this right. Mukesh said that Tempo Travellers will be sent to tribal and inaccessible areas. He said that wherever electric buses can run, they will be sent and wherever diesel buses can run, diesel buses will be sent there. During this, Randhir Sharma asked a supplementary question and said that the state government had asked the MLAs for 5 routes each for electric buses.
