The Himachal Road Transport Corporation’s free bus service for the sisters remained a mess on Bhaiya Dooj. Women waited for the bus at several stations around Nadaun, but when the corporation drivers noticed them, they halted the bus and accelerated it. Many sisters traveled in private buses to visit the brothers after battling for hours to catch the bus, and many of them had to book pricey taxi services.
A symbol of brother-sister love, this festival comes once a year for sisters, and even on this day, sisters have to take trouble to go. Most of the poles of the system were opened in rural areas, where private bus drivers also cheated the sisters. Bus services remained suspended in most of the rural areas, and there was no place to keep moles in the odd-even buses, and the sisters were also seen traveling on foot.
Anjana, Rama, Pushpa, Kiran, Pooja, Pinki, Anu, and Kamlesh said that the government has started free bus service, which is a commendable step, but the corporation employees do not take the benefit of this facility to the public. People say that when the government is providing free bus service to women, they do not know why the drivers of the corporation find this facility a burden. Action should be taken against such drivers who violate the rules, women said.
Director of Himachal Road Transport Corporation, Monty Sandhu, said that on Bhaiya Dooj, the women can travel free in the buses. Regarding this, the instructions have already been issued by the government, and the drivers of the corporation have been instructed to take advantage of this facility. He said action would be taken against the drivers who violated the rules.
