Solan
A major accident was averted in Ochghat area of Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. Late on Wednesday night, a huge rock slid from the mountain and fell on a two-storey house, breaking its roof and courtyard. This rock got stuck on some trees, due to which its havoc could not reach the surrounding houses and a major accident was averted.
This incident happened when it was raining heavily in the area. In the morning, when the local people saw the rock, they were all shocked. The size of the rock was so big that it could easily destroy many houses. Local Panchayat Pradhan Poonam told that they were already afraid of the rock sliding, so they had evacuated the house at night itself. Due to this precaution, the lives of the house owner Kiran Sharma and his daughter were saved.
Apart from this, incidents of landslides are being reported in Dharampur area of Solan district due to continuous rain. Three houses have developed cracks due to landslide in Bathol village, after which the administration has evacuated these houses as a precaution. People say that land erosion is continuing, which poses a threat to the entire village. Deep cracks have also appeared in the fields of the village. Deputy Pradhan Ajay Garcha of Dharampur Panchayat visited the spot and took stock of the situation and assessed the damage.
