A 43-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife in Shanogi village of Solan district, Himachal Pradesh. The accused has been identified as Chatar Singh, son of Pal Singh, a resident of village Shanogi, Post Office Malera, Tehsil Kasauli.
According to police, information was received at Police Chowki Kuthar on January 31, 2026, stating that a woman had allegedly attacked her husband with a knife and locked herself inside a room. Acting on the information, a police team reached the spot and found the woman, identified as Suman (38), lying dead inside her room in a pool of blood. Sharp weapon injury marks were found on her neck.
A complaint was later registered by Pooja, a resident of Shamaty, Solan district, who stated that she had received information about a dispute between Suman and her husband. Upon reaching the house with family members, they found Suman dead inside her room with severe injuries caused by a sharp-edged weapon. She expressed suspicion that Suman had been murdered by her husband.
Based on the statement, FIR No. 12/2026 dated February 1, 2026, under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Kasauli. Considering the sensitivity of the case, a forensic expert team inspected the crime scene and collected material evidence. A knife and a pair of scissors suspected to have been used in the crime were seized from the spot. The Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Parwanoo, also inspected the site.
The body of the deceased has been sent to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla for post-mortem examination.
During investigation, police examined witnesses and suspects and verified the circumstances of the incident. The investigation revealed that Suman was allegedly murdered by her husband, Chatar Singh, who has now been arrested. Further investigation in the case is ongoing.
