A case of suicide by hanging has come to light in Thakur Bhawan, located on Jaunaji Road near the city, where a young man hanged himself in his friend’s rented room. The police have taken the body into custody, conducted a post-mortem examination, and started an investigation.
On Friday, the city police station received information that a young man had committed suicide by hanging himself in a room in Thakur Bhawan on Jaunaji Road. Upon receiving the information, a team from the Solan city police station reached Thakur Niwas, Shulini Nagar. On the spot, a young man was found hanging from a fan in a room on the first floor of Thakur Bhawan. Upon inquiry, the young man was identified as 22-year-old Pankaj Kumar, son of Sunder Singh, resident of village and post office Tatiyana, Tehsil Kamrau, District Sirmaur.
The police recovered a broken mobile phone, pieces of a broken glass bottle of alcohol, and pieces of rope from the spot. No injury marks were found on the deceased’s body, but considering the sensitivity of the case, the scene was inspected by a team of experts from the State Forensic Science Laboratory.
During the investigation, it was found that the room in which the deceased Pankaj Kumar committed suicide belonged to his friend Kuldeep Singh. He is also a resident of Sirmaur and works in catering with Pankaj. The investigation also revealed that Pankaj lived with his brother-in-law in Kotlanala, Solan, and occasionally visited his friend Kuldeep. On Thursday, November 6th, Pankaj Kumar and his friend Tapendra, who is also from Sirmaur, both came to Kuldeep’s room, and both consumed alcohol that night. Kuldeep Kumar was away in his village Tatiyana, Sirmaur. At night, a boy named Anuj called Kuldeep and told him that “he had received a call from Pankaj who said that he was committing suicide and that he would not be found by them tomorrow.” The next morning, Friday, when Kuldeep reached his room with another person, Virender Sharma, he found that Pankaj had hanged himself from the fan. The deceased’s family and the police were informed.
Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh stated that the deceased’s post-mortem was conducted at the regional hospital in Solan. Action is being taken under Section 194 of the BNSS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita) in this regard, and a thorough investigation into the matter is underway.
