Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has started the admission process for its Management programmes, including the Master of Business Administration (MBA), for the January 2026 session. The opportunity is especially beneficial for working professionals and students who wish to pursue a management degree from India’s largest open university while continuing their jobs or studying from home. The programmes are offered through IGNOU’s School of Management Studies and are known for their flexible learning system.
Interested candidates can apply online through the official Samarth portal: ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. The last date for fresh admissions and re-registration has been extended to February 15, 2026, from the earlier deadline of January 31. Applicants are advised not to wait until the last moment to avoid technical issues.
The MBA programme is of two years’ duration, which can be completed within a maximum of four years. The university offers several specialisations, including Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Marketing Management, Operations Management, Banking and Finance, and Healthcare and Hospital Management.
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must have a minimum three-year bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. General category applicants must secure at least 50% marks in graduation, while reserved category candidates require 45% marks. There is no upper age limit for admission to the MBA programme.
Admission Process:
In a major relief for aspirants, IGNOU has waived the requirement of any entrance examination such as OPENMAT this year. Admissions will be granted purely on the basis of graduation marks.
Fee Structure:
The total course fee ranges between ₹62,000 and ₹64,000. Students are required to pay approximately ₹15,500 per semester, while the third semester fee may increase to around ₹17,500 due to project work charges.
A non-refundable registration fee of ₹300 and a university development fee of ₹200 are payable at the time of application.
Applicants must keep scanned copies of their photograph, signature, age proof, academic mark sheets, and category certificate (if applicable) ready while filling out the online form. The entire application process is digital, and fees can be paid via net banking, debit card, or credit card.
