The Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla organized the Inaugural Session of the Orientation Programme “AAROHAN” for the newly admitted students of the University on 24 August 2021, Tuesday from 04:30-05:45 PM. The Inaugural Session was presided over by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ravi Malimath, Acting Chief Justice, Himachal Pradesh High Court and the Chancellor of the University.
The Welcome Address was delivered by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr) Nishtha Jaswal who introduced the University and dedicated poetic and Upanishadic verses to the students for motivating them for the years to come. The Special Address during the Inaugural Session was delivered by Prof. (Dr) Manoj Kumar Sinha, Director, Indian Law Institute, New Delhi who highlighted the major issues in the legal field today and its implications on the legal system. He also discussed about the role of students and the kind of efforts required from their end to influence the society at large.
Honb’le Mr. Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Judge High Court of Himachal Pradesh was the Guest of Honor and during his address he motivated the students to strive to the best of their abilities. He congratulated all the students on securing their position in the University. He emphasized the role of fearless education and research in academia and specially among students.
Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ravi Malimath, Acting Chief Justice, Himachal Pradesh High Court and the Chancellor of the University, presided the Inaugural Session as the Chief Guest. During his address he mentioned the leap from school life to college life and the challenges therein. He encouraged the students towards the pursuit of excellence in whatever they as students of law choose. He also emphasized on the need of becoming a quality human being during the journey of legal education that they are to embark upon.
Prof. (Dr) S.S. Jaswal delivered the vote of thanks and the Session concluded on that note. The Orientation Session will continue till Sunday, 29 August 2021 and legal luminaries from across the country will address the undergraduate and postgraduate newly admitted students.
