*Winners and runners-up will be honored in Independence Day program*
*District administration took the decision, the competition will be held in 21 blocks of the district*
This time on the occasion of Independence Day, essay writing and painting competitions will be organized in the schools of Shimla district. The district administration has decided to celebrate the festival of independence with great enthusiasm. In this connection, various competitions will be organized in the senior and junior categories in the schools.
Giving information, Additional Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Verma said that in the schools of the district, only the students of senior category i.e. class 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th can participate in both the competitions, whereas in the junior category, students from class VI to VIII will be able to participate.
This competition will be organized in the schools of 21 blocks of the district till 5 August 2025. After this, the name of one winner from each block will have to be selected from each competition and sent to the office of Deputy Education Director Shimla. After this, first, second and third place will be selected.
By 10th August, the office of Deputy Education Director will send the names of the winners and runners-up to the office of District Magistrate. After this, the winners and runners-up will be honoured in the Independence Day programme on 15th August. Additional Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Verma said that the painting exhibition of the winners of the painting competition of 21 sections will be organised in Shimla.
*Topics prescribed for essay writing and painting competition*
There will be various topics in the essay writing competition being held on the occasion of Independence Day in the senior category in which essay will have to be written on any one of the topics ‘Freedom is a priceless gift’, ‘Independence Day: Story of struggle, values and duties’, ‘Preparation for future challenges is our freedom’. The number of words in the essay will be 500 to 550 while the time duration of the essay will be two and a half hours. The essay can be written in any one of the languages Hindi, English and Sanskrit.
The participant will be completely prohibited from writing the essay with the help of internet, book or other lectures. Plagiarism of more than 20% will not be accepted in the essay. Ideas, arguments, facts in the essay must be written absolutely correctly and clearly.
Along with this, the theme of painting competition in the senior category will be ‘Golden Future of India’, ‘Struggle and Sacrifice of Freedom Fighters of India’ and ‘Military Power of India’.
The duration of the competition will be 3 hours. The size of the painting should be (18×20 inches) or (45×50 cm). Good quality sheet, canvas, wood or fabric can be used for painting. This competition will be organized by the school management in the school premises. The school management will select the name of each child who will win the competition and send it to the Deputy Director.
Painting competition will be organized for junior category from class 6 to 8. There will be various themes in it which include ‘My great India’, ‘Unity in diversity’ and ‘Natural beauty of India’. Painting has to be made on any one of these themes. The time of the competition will be 3 hours. The size of the painting should be (18×20 inches) or (45×50 centimeters). Good quality sheet, canvas, wood or fabric can be used for painting.

In the senior category, the first prize in the painting competition and essay competition will be awarded with Rs. 5,000, second prize will be Rs. 3,000 and third prize will be Rs. 2,000. In the painting competition of the junior category, the first prize will be awarded with Rs. 5,000, second prize will be Rs. 3,000 and third prize will be Rs. 2,000.
