A special meeting was organised under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap towards strengthening the rural economy in the district.
At this meeting, it was decided to develop a special strategy for the efficient operation of the approximately 5,500 self-help groups operating in the district. These self-help groups have 38 clusters in the district. However, the district-level federation is not functioning effectively. Therefore, the meeting decided to strengthen the district-level federation so that all self-help groups can benefit.
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said that through the National Rural Livelihood Mission and State Rural Livelihood Mission self-help groups, women in the district are being provided with employment opportunities at their doorsteps. The rural economy is strengthening. Self-help groups have played an important role in making thousands of women in the district self-reliant. He said that our priority is to give priority to new innovations in the rural economy so that maximum number of women can benefit. The district administration is now working in this direction. Special camps will be organized to make self-help groups aware in the district. Apart from this, special training will also be given to the groups.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the various housing projects being constructed under the District Rural Development Department have been directed to be completed within the next six months. Housing is being built for beneficiaries under state and central government schemes. These projects must be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
