A total of 3 accused, including 2 interstate drug smugglers, along with a huge quantity of narcotic substances, have been arrested by the police under Sub Division Indora. In a major breakthrough in the special drive against drugs launched by Police District Nurpur, the police have arrested the accused persons on the charge of drug peddling near a cybercafé located on Jalandhar-Pathankot National Highway 54. SP Noorpur Ashok Ratan said the police received a tip-off last evening that a suspicious vehicle and a motorcycle were being used to smuggle drugs.
Based on the information, the police conducted a raid and seized the vehicles. A total of 3 kg 20 gm charas was recovered from vehicle no. JK 08 L 1571 and motorcycle no. JK 08 N 5726. The police have arrested three persons identified as Karanpreet Singh, son of Ajit Singh, resident of village Gengi, Post Office Marheen, Tehsil Hiranagar, District Kathua, Vishal Kumar, son of Kamal Kishore, resident of Samlana, Post Office Makdahan, Tehsil Jawali, District Kangra and Sahil Kumar, son of Maihar Chand, resident of village Chak Desa, Tehsil Marheen, District Kathua. A case under Sections 20, 25 and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused. Police have seized the truck and the bike from the accused. Further action is underway.
According to the police, accused Vishal Kumar, son of Kamal Kishore, resident of Samlana, Dr. Makdahan, Tehsil Jawali, District Kangra, is a habitual drug smuggler who has been arrested on May 24, 2024, also under Police Station Jawali, with 12 kg, 156 gm charas. The men, who were allegedly involved in drug trafficking in Jammu and Himachal Pradesh, were arrested last evening. The SP said that the drive of the district police Nurpur against the drug trade will continue in the future.
