The Department of English, Shoolini University, and the Multi-Ethnic Literatures of the World Society (MELOW) successfully organised four-day long 20th International MELOW conference which concluded on Sunday.
The theme for this unique conference was “400 years of American Literature”. The conference was conducted online and was highly appreciated for facilitating easy conversations and exchange of ideas between renowned intellectuals and new scholars in the field of American Literature.
During the 12 sessions of conference, there were discussions by scholars, independent researchers, academics, and professors who covered major American movements, fiction, non-fiction, poetry and drama. A capstone session is slated for the October 16, with a goal to give a unique space to the Native-American literature.
Prof. Manpreet Kaur Kang, Secretary MELOW, said “Shoolini is giving us major goals. The way you are moving ahead is really amazing.”
Prof. Paweł Jędrzejko, Head of the American and Canadian Studies, University of Silesia, Poland, also commended the quality of the conference and invited scholars to contribute their essays to his journal the Review of International American Studies.
Prof. Manju Jaidka, President, MELOW, and the HOD, Department of English, Shoolini University, said this was the third International conference hosted by the Department in a short span of seven months. She shared that the viewership of the conference was around 2500.
