Shoolini University, in collaboration with the Shoolini Institute of Life Sciences and Business Management (SILB), celebrated International Yoga Day with the theme “Yoga for Women Empowerment”.
The event highlighted the transformative power of yoga in enhancing the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of women.
The celebration was attended by guests, including Mrs Saroj Khosla, President of SILB, Prof. P K Khosla, Chancellor, Dr. Ashoo Khosla, Chief Learning Officer, and Brig. S D Mehta Director of Operations.
Mrs. Saroj Khosla was felicitated by Prof. Dr. Saamdu Chetri, Director of the Yogananda School of Spirituality and Happiness (YSSH), for her contributions to women’s empowerment and education.
In her keynote address, Mrs Saroj Khosla talked about the potential and strength of women, she also highlighted yoga as a tool for achieving self-reliance and confidence.
Assistant Prof. Dr. Suman Rawat and PhD Scholar Ms. Renitta Sinha hosted the event. Dr. Rawat led the yoga session, guiding participants through various asanas and breathing exercises. The session saw enthusiastic participation of around 120-130 individuals, including faculty members and students from SILB and Shoolini University, as well as the outreach team and their students.
The Yogananda Library at Shoolini University also celebrated International Yoga Day with a two-day exhibition of thematic books on yoga and empowerment. The exhibition, held on June 20th and 21st, and over 110 students, faculty, and staff, including visit from the Chancellor and the yoga faculty.
In addition to Yoga sessions YSSH organised a significant yoga event for the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) in Panchkula, where over 3000 security personnel participated in the session. This event aimed to enhance the physical and mental resilience of the security forces through yoga. Assistant Prof. Dr. Apar Kaushik, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Saamdu Chetri, coordinated these events, ensuring broad outreach and impactful engagement.
On the occasion Prof. Dr. Saamdu Chetri Director of the Yogananda School of Spirituality and Happiness (YSSH) said, “every existence arises in yoga and dissolves in yoga. It is not only a practice for International Day of Yoga but should become a part of every breathing moment of human beings so that the union of every individual is self with self, self with others, and self with nature before the final union with the ultimate.”
