Solan, April 25
The Faculty of Legal Sciences, Shoolini University, organised the 2nd Intra Moot Court Competition on the university campus. Twelve teams participated in the Preliminary Rounds.
Out of these, four teams advanced to the Semi-Finals, and two teams competed in the Grand Finale.
After a series of intense rounds, Team IMCC 8001, comprising Ananya and her team from the 8th Semester, emerged as the Winner. Team IMCC 4002, consisting of Amit and his teammates from LLB and BALLB 2nd Year, finished as the Runner-Up. Students showcased impressive advocacy skills, legal reasoning, and courtroom etiquette throughout the competition.
The Grand Finale was judged by Senior Advocate Mr. R.S. Gautam from the Himachal Pradesh High Court, Shimla along with Associate Prof Dr. Renu Pal Sood, Prof of Practice Advocate Rajiv Chauhan, and Their expert guidance and insights made the final round a rich learning experience for all.
The event was convened by Mr. Vineet Kumar, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Legal Sciences, and co-convened by Dr. Monika Thakur, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Legal Sciences. Mr. Vineet Kumar addressed the participants and highlighted the importance of understanding law as it “is” and as it “ought to be.” He encouraged students to balance academic study with practical experience and explained the difference between expository law and censorial jurisprudence.
Dr. Nandan Sharma, Associate Dean, Faculty of Legal Sciences, congratulated all participants and praised their dedication. He emphasised that such platforms are crucial for bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world legal practice.
The competition concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Monika Thakur, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Legal Sciences. She said the competition helped students to improve essential legal skills like drafting, analytical thinking, teamwork, and public speaking, offering them real-world exposure to courtroom proceedings.
