JUIT has a proud tradition of celebrating Gandhi Jayanti every year. This year the event was celebrated with an exclusive drive for “Swachta Abhiyan” in the campus and surrounding areas. The event started with an introductory speech by Dr. Anil Tomar who gave an insight into GandhiJi’s life and mission and motivated the students to be a part of the event as a humble homage to the great soul. The ambience of the event was apt with songs on Mahatma Gandhi plying in the background and “mantras of bapu’ being narrated. With the permission of Honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rajendra Kumar Sharma, the event commenced with teams from various departments went to their already designated areas around the JUIT campus. The Faculty members along with staff and students were all issued with disposable gloves and the spirit of the event was truly felt and in a span of more than 1 hour, more than 20 big poly bags of garbage were collected. The neighbouring dhaba owners and some residents were made to realise the importance of keeping the surroundings clean.
