Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, Solan, is proudly celebrating Fire Service Week from 14th to 20th April 2025. This significant week was inaugurated with a heartfelt tribute to the brave firefighters who tragically lost their lives during the Mumbai Dock Fire on 14th April, 1944. Their sacrifice remains a poignant reminder of the dangers faced by those on the frontlines of fire safety.
The event featured an impressive array of fire-fighting demonstrations, showcasing the strength and preparedness of our community. These live demonstrations highlighted not only the importance of fire safety but also the invaluable role of quick response and coordination during emergencies. More than just a demonstration, the event reflected the unwavering commitment of everyone at JUIT toward embracing fire safety practices in everyday life.
This year’s theme, “Unite to Ignite a Fire Safe India,” encapsulated the spirit of the week — a collective effort to build a fire-safe future for all. The enthusiasm and active participation of students, faculty, and staff reaffirmed our shared dedication to this cause.
The Firefighting Demonstration, organized by the JUIT Fire Department, was held on the JUIT campus, specifically at the volleyball court, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Attendees included students and lab staff from the Departments of Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, PMS, as well as security personnel. The event served as both a demonstration and a training session, equipping participants with crucial knowledge on fire safety.
The primary aim of this session was to raise awareness about different types of fires, their causes, and most importantly, the use of fire extinguishers in various scenarios. Attendees were educated about the different types of extinguishers and their specific applications, ensuring that everyone is prepared to act swiftly and correctly in case of a fire emergency.
This initiative was not just about training but also about fostering a culture of safety, responsibility, and teamwork. As we conclude Fire Service Week, the message is clear: Every one of us plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our community. Together, we can contribute to making a fire-safe India a reality.
