The Sub-Divisional Legal Services Authority organized a huge legal literacy camp today in the auditorium of the Government Senior Secondary School, Jubbal. Chairperson of the Sub-Divisional Legal Services Authority, Jubbal, Sheetal Gupta, presided over the camp. Various speakers presented their views on topics such as a drug-free society – India’s pledge, environmental protection, and rehabilitation of disaster victims. School students, women from various panchayats, and women from self-help groups also participated.
Sheetal Gupta expressed her gratitude to all the speakers and guests for being a part of the program and explained that this program was organized under the joint auspices of the National Legal Services Authority and the Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority with the aim of raising legal awareness among the general public on various topics. She expressed hope that the discussions held at this camp would benefit the general public and spread awareness about ending the growing drug addiction in society and protecting the environment.
Speaking on the topic of disaster rehabilitation, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Jubbal Gurmeet Negi, Naib Tehsildar Yudh Abhai Singh, and senior advocate Lokinder Sharma explained how the government provides relief and rescue to citizens during natural and man-made disasters, and the regulations it has established for rehabilitation. They also explained the provisions under which landless citizens can request land from the government for housing. All speakers also detailed the legal provisions related to this topic.
On the subject of drug de-addiction, SHO Jubbal Chetan Chauhan, Dr. Kartik, Dr. Akhil and Advocate Ritesh Sharma expressed concern over the increasing drug addiction in the society and said that in the present times, the increasing drug addiction among the youth has become a serious challenge, and the government is committed to eradicating it, but all the people of the society will have to unite to deal with this issue. Along with this, they also mentioned the health hazards caused by drug addiction and the provisions of punishment under the anti-drug law for those found involved in the business of narcotics and drugs.
Presenting their views on environmental protection, Forest Friend Kritika, Advocate Nikhil Rolta, and Assistant District Prosecutor Tenzin Negi stated that environmental degradation is a global challenge and could take a catastrophic turn in the future. Therefore, it is crucial for all of us to understand and respect the importance of the environment and natural resources, as life on Earth is unimaginable without them. Legal aspects of environmental pollution were also discussed. Priyanshi Verma and Political Science lecturer Balwant Jhota also shared their views.
