The NSS unit of Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Solan, in collaboration with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), NCC, and Koshish Club, organized a lively and patriotic celebration to commemorate the 79th Independence Day. Held on the university campus, the event featured an energetic Tiranga Yatra followed by an engaging drawing competition for junior school students, aimed at fostering national pride and creative expression among participants.
The celebrations began with a flag hoisting ceremony conducted by the Dean Academic and the Registrar of the university. This was followed by the Tiranga Yatra—a vibrant parade in which students, faculty, and staff actively participated, carrying the Tricolour throughout the campus. The procession symbolized unity and patriotism, highlighting the importance of independence and our collective duty to uphold the principles enshrined in the Indian Constitution. Spectators lined the route, and the event was amplified by patriotic songs and slogans that resonated across the campus, strengthening a sense of community and national pride among all attendees.
After the Tiranga Yatra, a drawing competition was organized exclusively for junior school students from nearby schools. The themes—“Operation Sindoor” and “Har Ghar Tiranga”—encouraged young artists to express their patriotism through art. The children displayed impressive talent, creating vibrant and meaningful paintings that reflected their love for the nation and their understanding of patriotic values. This competition was designed not only to nurture artistic skills but also to instill patriotic sentiments in the youth. The top three participants, recognized for their creativity, thematic adherence, and overall presentation, were awarded.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Nishant Jain, NSS Programme Coordinator at JUIT, with valuable support from NSS student volunteers.
