Department of Mathematics of Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, Solan celebrated National Mathematics Day – 2022 on the birth anniversary of Sir Srinivasa Ramanujan, one of the great Mathematicians of the 20th century. This event is being organized in collaboration with Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics & Department of Physics & Materials Science. The department has organized following activities on this occasion:
Conduction of Mathematics quiz on 19 and 20 December, 2022 at three schools as:
Boys Senior Secondary School, Lalpani, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
Sacred Heart Convent International School, Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana, Punjab.
Senior Secondary Smart School, Sekhewal, Ludhiana, Punjab.
Expert lectures by:
V.K. Kukreja, Department of Mathematics, Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology, Longowal, Punjab.
J.C. Bansal, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, South Asian University, New Delhi.
All the students of IX to XII standards of aforesaid schools have participated in the quiz enthusiastically and attended the expert lectures in an online mode.
On this occasion welcome speech was given by program coordinator Dr. Bhupendra Kumar Pathak. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, JUIT Prof. R.K. Sharma addressed the students and focused on the importance of education. Dean (A&R) Prof. A. K. Gupta and Head of Mathematics Department Prof R. K. Bajaj also addressed the audience. Invited speakers Prof. V.K. Kukreja and Dr. J.C. Bansal delivered the lectures during this event and the invited talk session was chaired by Dr. Neel Kanth.
Prof. Karanjeet Singh, Department of Mathematics, Prof. P. B. Barman, HoD, Physics and Materials Science and Prof. Sudhir Kumar, HoD, BT and BI announced the winners of quiz. Program co-coordinators Dr. Tiratha Raj Singh and Dr. Ragini Raj Singh supported the events through various activities. At the end of event Dr. Saurabh Srivastava gave the vote of thanks. More than 200 students from three different schools participated in the quiz. The event was successfully conducted with a message that Mathematics can help us to solve real life problems with an ease.
