The Synapse Club of the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics organized “INCIPERE” event at Jaypee University of Information and Technology, Waknaghat.
The event commenced with ceremonial lamp lighting and a lovely Saraswati Vandana followed by meaningful speeches by our Registrar, Major Gen. (Retd.) Rakesh Bassi, Dean (A&R) Prof. Ashok Kumar Gupta, and Head of Department BT/BI Prof. Sudhir Kumar along with Prof. Tiratha Raj Singh, Dr. Hemant Sood and Dr. Saurabh Bansal.
The event then transitioned to an impressive Bollywood dance by second-year girls, invoking nostalgia with popular 90’s hits. Shashank and Kartikey delivered a captivating singing performance, enchanting us with their soulful voice and heartfelt songs. We also got to hear from our club coordinator, Dr. Hemant Sood, about her experience in the club from the past years, encouraging us to make every moment count while welcoming our freshers.
A poetic delight was delivered by a M.Sc. first-year student which left the audience with their tales of friendship followed by a skit that was performed in observance of World Alzheimer’s Day, using a comical approach to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s and how politics can distort important issues.
This was followed by a mesmerizing group singing performance that held the audience spellbound. The event continued with an energetic Bhangra performance again, by the enthusiastic second-year girls.
Prof. Tiratha Raj Singh also gave a brief background of Alzheimer’s disease along with its biological conditions and complexities. Prof. Singh’s lab is working on this disease since last 13 years using various computational biology approaches. Ending the event on a poetic note was Prof. Tirath Raj’s speech along with his shayari “kabhi kabhi…” concluding the show with smiles all around. In the end, Vipasha Sher, the club president, extended a vote of thanks to the organizers and club coordinators for their diligent efforts in ensuring the event’s success.
