RBI Ombudsman office, Shimla organised a Financial Awareness Program in collaboration with Department of HSS, JUIT on Feb 9 at the University campus. RBI Ombudsman, Shri Shiv Kumar Yadav and Deputy Ombudsman, Shri Anil Pandora were the main speakers for the event and the occasion was graced by JUIT Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rajendra Kumar Sharma, Dean (A&R), Prof. Ashok Kumar Gupta, Controller of Examination, Prof. Sunil Kumar Khah, and HOD Dept of HSS, Dr. Amit Srivastava. The event was conducted by Dr. Neena Jindal, Dr. Bilal Khan and Dr. Atul Kumar Singh coordinated the program. After a welcome address, RBI officials were felicitated by JUIT VC and JUIT Dean A&R.
In his speech, RBI Ombudsman educated the students on the subject of financial awareness and outlined the significance of Reserve Bank- Integrated Ombudsman Scheme (RB-IOS), 2021. He also provided helpful insights regarding the subject of online safety, key guidelines and grievance redressal in case of banking frauds. Both RBI Ombudsman and Deputy Ombudsman discussed in detail the impact of technology on our financial dynamics, the risks that come with digital and electronic advancements, various strategies used by scammers and fraudsters to lure victims, and the ways to check different types of online scams and banking frauds. They emphasised on the power of educating people about various scams and safety strategies and talked about how Ombudsman can help people in case of any online fraud. Using various case-studies, they showed how scammers use people’s greed and fear to loot them financially.

More than 250 students attended the program showing a lot of enthusiasm. The program was followed by gifting of souvenirs to all the students and attendees.
