Waknaghat, 18th September 2025 – Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, has signed a prestigious MoU with South Dakota Mines, USA, and announced the launch of a first-of-its-kind Accelerated Master’s Program. The MoU was signed by Prof. (Dr.) Rajendra Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor, JUIT, and DProf.rr. Rajesh Sani, Distinguished Professor and Director (MASON), South Dakota Mines, USA.
The Accelerated Master’s Program, an extension of the decade-long partnership between JUIT and South Dakota Mines (active since 2013), offers unparalleled academic and financial benefits:
Full tuition fee remission (approx. USD 18,000)
Monthly stipend of USD 1,100–1,200
Opportunity for students to begin their Master’s research during the 8th semester of B.Tech., enabling them to complete their Master’s in 1.5 years instead of 2 years.
So far, 35 JUIT students have benefitted from the student exchange program with South Dakota Mines, completing their 8th semester in the U.S. With the launch of this new program, the pathway has expanded into a unique accelerated Master’s opportunity.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Sudhir Kumar, Dean (Research & Internationalization), JUIT, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Sani for this support and the University leadership. He thanked CEO Mr.Sh. Manu Bhaskar Gaur for his keen interest and constant support, and acknowledged the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Rajendra Kumar Sharma, under whose encouragement this initiative has become a reality.
Out of the first three students selected for the program, Kartik, a student from Solan, Himachal Pradesh, has already secured his place. This continues JUIT’s tradition of empowering students from across the state— including Solan, Shimla, Dharampur, and HarikeBaddi—who have earlier participated in the student exchange program.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by all Deans and Heads of Departments of JUIT, marking this as a landmark day in the university’s journey of academic excellence and internationalization.
This program is a big achievement not only for JUIT but also for the students of Himachal Pradesh, giving them the opportunity to fulfill their dreams with global exposure, financial support, and advanced research opportunities.
