Engineers Trained in Future-Ready Prefabricated Construction Technologies
Waknaghat, February 19, 2026:
Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, reaffirmed its commitment to advancing modern and sustainable construction practices by organizing a two-day Capacity Building Programme on “Prefabricated and Pre-Engineered Building Systems.” The initiative was conducted by the Department of Civil Engineering at the university campus.
The programme brought together 23 engineers from leading government infrastructure bodies, including Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department (HPPWD), Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVNL), and Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA). The objective was to strengthen the technical capabilities of practicing engineers and promote the adoption of advanced, efficient construction technologies in public infrastructure projects.
Programme Coordinator Dr. Tanmay Gupta highlighted the growing relevance of Prefabricated and Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) systems, noting their advantages such as faster construction timelines, improved structural efficiency, enhanced quality control, and sustainability. He emphasized that such technologies are particularly beneficial for infrastructure development in challenging terrains like Himachal Pradesh and represent the future of India’s construction industry.
Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) R. K. Sharma underscored the importance of bridging academic knowledge with practical implementation. He commended the Civil Engineering Department for organizing industry-relevant programmes that directly contribute to nation-building and technological advancement.
Registrar and Dean of Students Brigadier R. K. Sharma spoke about the pivotal role of civil engineers in shaping society, stressing that infrastructure development directly impacts citizens’ safety and quality of life.
Head of the Department, Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Kumar, highlighted the advantages of dry construction methods such as prefabrication and PEB systems. He noted that these technologies ensure greater precision, faster execution, and environmental sustainability, positioning them as the future of construction practices.
The programme featured expert lectures from renowned academicians and industry leaders. Prof. Prem Pal Bansal of Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology delivered detailed sessions on the design philosophy and structural fundamentals of pre-engineered buildings, offering deep technical insights.
Industry professionals from Today’s Architects Pvt. Ltd. also shared practical knowledge based on real-world projects and implementation challenges. Their sessions enriched participants’ understanding of modern construction techniques and industry practices.
The contribution of Today’s Architects was widely appreciated for bringing valuable field perspectives to the academic platform.
The successful conduct of the programme further strengthens JUIT’s reputation as a premier institution dedicated to technical excellence, professional development, and the promotion of sustainable, future-ready infrastructure solutions.
