Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, recently hosted an engaging and insightful lecture on Very-Large-Scale Integration (VLSI) technology and its expanding career prospects. The session was led by Mr. Rajat Kumar Singh, an accomplished VLSI industry professional and CEO of VLSI for All Pvt. Ltd., and was organized in collaboration with the company.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from BTech and MTech students along with faculty members from the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). The primary objective of the session was to offer students a comprehensive overview of the global VLSI landscape and to inspire them to explore career opportunities in this dynamic and fast-evolving field.
Mr. Singh opened the session by presenting an overview of the current state of VLSI technology and its pivotal role in driving innovation across domains such as mobile communications, autonomous vehicles, IoT, and artificial intelligence. He emphasized the rising demand for skilled VLSI professionals and highlighted the significant talent gap, particularly in India.
Sharing his personal and professional experiences, Mr. Singh provided practical guidance on how students can enhance their employability by pursuing industry-recognized certifications, internships, and hands-on project work. “Stay curious and keep learning—the VLSI industry thrives on innovation and constant technological progress,” he advised.
What made the session particularly impactful was its interactive nature. Mr. Singh engaged directly with students, addressing their questions and discussing emerging industry trends, essential technical skills, and career pathways. His personal anecdotes from his student life resonated with attendees, offering a relatable and motivational perspective.
A key highlight of the lecture was Mr. Singh’s encouragement to embrace practical learning, emphasizing that students should actively seek internships, personal projects, and continuous skill upgrades to remain competitive. He also discussed the entrepreneurial potential in the VLSI space, urging students to think beyond conventional job roles and explore innovative startup opportunities.
The event began with a formal lamp-lighting ceremony led by Prof. Rajiv Kumar, Head of the Department of ECE, and Mr. Rajat Kumar Singh. During the inauguration, Mr. Singh was formally felicitated by Prof. Shruti Jain, Associate Dean (Innovation), in recognition of his contributions to the industry and academia.
Senior faculty members including Dr. Harsh Sohal, Dr. Emjee Puthooran, Dr. Naveen Jaglan, and Dr. Shweta Pandit were also present at the occasion. The success of the workshop was further bolstered by the dedicated efforts of ECE department students, who played a crucial role in organizing and managing the event.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Singh expressed optimism about India’s growing role in the global semiconductor ecosystem and encouraged students to proactively seize the emerging opportunities in the VLSI sector.
This collaborative workshop marked a significant milestone in the university’s ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between academia and industry, and paved the way for future partnerships focused on skill development and technological innovation in semiconductor and electronics engineering.
