Kumari Aarti, a Class 12 student of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Junga, has been selected to represent Himachal Pradesh at the National Under-19 Football Championship, scheduled to be held in Imphal, Manipur, from January 23 to 28.
Aarti reached Imphal along with the state team after undergoing intensive preparation at a coaching camp organised in Dharampur, Solan, from January 15 to 18. Physical Education spokesperson Suman Chauhan said that Aarti has consistently shown dedication to sports while maintaining a strong academic record.
Her journey to the national level began last year with an impressive performance at the district-level Under-19 football competition held in Sunni, Shimla, which earned her selection for the state-level tournament. She further proved her mettle at the recent state-level competition in Bilaspur, where her performance secured her place in the national squad.
Principal Mahesh Sharma congratulated Aarti and extended his best wishes for the championship. He said her selection has brought pride to the school as well as her parents and expressed confidence that she will deliver an outstanding performance at the national level.
