New Delhi: During his visit to Delhi, Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in his office last evening. It was a courtesy call. The two leaders held in-depth and detailed discussions on the parliamentary system, legislative work, future All India Presiding Officers’ Conferences, and the zone-level Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Conferences.
Informing the Lok Sabha Speaker during the meeting, Pathania said that by holding eight meetings at Tapovan Dharamshala, the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly has completed its scheduled 35 meetings for a calendar year. He said that in this calendar year, we have held 15 meetings in the Budget Session, 12 in the Monsoon Session, and 8 in the Winter Session. Pathania said that the work productivity in the House, combined with all three sessions, is 98. It has been around 10 percent which reflects the commitment of the honourable members, ruling and opposition parties towards the parliamentary system.
While informing Om Birla about the winter session held in Tapovan, Pathania said that during the 8 days of meetings, 1699 school students watched the proceedings of the House from the visitors’ gallery, which is the basis of a strong democracy and while the young generation is also taking interest in the parliamentary system, the popularity of our democratic system is increasing all over the world.
On this occasion, the two stalwarts also discussed various social and administrative issues of the country and the state, including the All India Presiding Officers Conference to be held from 18 to 25 January, 2026 in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, and the topics to be discussed in the conference.
