Shimla
A special meeting was held on Friday at the Savings Building under the Rehabilitation and Displacement Plan for people affected by the Lahuri Power Project. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, and Theog MLA Kuldeep Singh Rathore was specially present.
During the meeting, MLA Kuldeep Singh Rathore said that the project-affected families are not receiving their rightful benefits. He stated that the project management has been assuring employment for a long time, but no concrete action has been taken so far. He added that the affected people are not against the project, but they are deprived of the facilities and rights promised to them.
Rathore said that the anger among the people is justified, as they have lost land, crops are being damaged, and the surrounding environment is facing pollution. However, they are not receiving any benefits in return. He directed SJVN representatives to ensure there is no delay in providing benefits under the Rehabilitation and Displacement Scheme.
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap informed that a detailed meeting on rehabilitation and displacement will be held on February 16. Presentations will be given by the SDM Rampur, SDM Kumarsain, and SJVN representatives on the current status of rehabilitation and displacement. He also directed that key points of the plan be shared with all stakeholders before January 21, 2026, so that people can be properly informed. The Deputy Commissioner assured that the district administration is fully committed to ensuring that the affected families receive their legitimate rights.
