Due to continuous bad weather since last one week, the mountains have started cracking on Kullu-Mandi NH in district Mandi. Due to this, the Mandi-Pandoh road was closed on Monday night at 11 o’clock on Kullu-Mandi NH due to landslides at Seven Mile and Quarry, which was restored around 9.15 am. Hundreds of drivers were stuck in the jam for 11 hours due to the closure of NH. The companies set up by the Public Works Department to restore the NH made two attempts to open the NH. However, as soon as the land sliding happened. The companies started the work due to the opening of the road from 11 o’clock in the morning till 4:30 in the morning, after which the work was stopped for two to two and a half hours and again the work was started to restore the road around 6 o’clock and a quarter to nine. The road was opened to motorists around 12:00. Due to the rain, land sliding is taking place at many places on the Mandi-Pandoh road, including seven miles, Quarry and many other stations. Where the falling of small stones continues continuously.
ASP Sagar Chandra said that there was a landslide near Seven Mile and Quarry during the night. Due to which HN remained closed for the whole night. Restored to a safe road for motorists in the morning. It is common for stones to fall from the mountains on the Mandi to Pandoh road when it rains.
