Irina Thakur, daughter of Shansha, a small village in Lahaul-Spiti, a tribal district of Himachal Pradesh, has brought laurels to the state and the country by achieving a major achievement on the international stage. In view of the excellent services of Irina Thakur, a 2012 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, the Government of India has appointed her as Deputy High Commissioner (Deputy High Commissioner) in the Indian High Commission in Canberra, Australia.
Let us tell you that Irina Thakur passed the prestigious Civil Services Examination in the year 2012, after which she was allotted the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) cadre. Since then, she has served in many important positions in the Ministry of External Affairs and has proved her efficiency.
Before her new appointment, Irina Thakur was working as First Secretary in the Indian High Commission in Colombo, Sri Lanka. During this time she played an important role in strengthening bilateral relations between India and Sri Lanka. Apart from this, she also has deep experience in foreign policy making, handling international diplomatic relations and managing important services like passport-visa.
There is a wave of happiness in the entire state due to the Government of India entrusting this important responsibility to Irina Thakur. A daughter coming from a small village of a tribal district and representing India at the world level is no less than an inspiration for the youth of Himachal Pradesh.
