Chamba, April 11: A major landslide has brought traffic to a complete halt on the Pathankot–Bharmour highway, severely disrupting connectivity in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district. The incident has left several villages cut off, forcing locals to take dangerous alternatives to reach their destinations.
With vehicular movement suspended, desperate commuters have been seen risking their lives by crossing the swollen Ravi river on foot, highlighting the gravity of the situation. Eyewitnesses reported that people, including daily wage workers and students, are navigating treacherous terrain amid fear and uncertainty.
Authorities have been informed, and restoration work is expected to begin soon. However, recurring landslides in the region have once again exposed the vulnerability of hill roads, especially during adverse weather conditions.
Officials have urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution until the route is cleared and deemed safe for movement.
