A massive landslide from the hill near Sanwara on Kalka-Shimla National Highway 5. This incident has created a stir in the entire area and there are long queues of vehicles on both sides of the highway.
The traffic has come to a complete standstill, causing great trouble to the passengers. The debris of the landslide is so much that the highway is completely closed. This landslide has not only affected the highway, but the danger has also increased on the Kasauli road passing just above it.
The administration has taken immediate action considering the seriousness of the situation.
The authorities have closed the hill lane from Datyar to Dharampur and vehicles are being sent through alternate routes. Apart from this, one-way traffic has been implemented at Chakkimor to control and secure the movement of vehicles.
There are reports of debris falling at various places from Parwanoo to Kaithlighat, due to which drivers have to travel with great fear and caution.
Due to this, the problem of heavy traffic jam and delay in travel is also coming up. Local people and travelers are demanding the administration to remove the debris as soon as possible and make the road safe.
The administration has informed the concerned departments about this and has assured to start the work of removing the debris soon.
The risk of landslides increases even more during the rainy season. Therefore, local people and travelers have been advised to take special precautions.
