Heavy rains have been wreaked havoc in Himachal Pradesh district Sirmaur for the last few days, the effect of which has now started to appear clearly. Although today there is some relief from the rain, but people are suffering. Around 4:45 am on Thursday morning, the main road leading to Sri Renukaji from two roads has been closed due to heavy landslides near Naihali.
Due to landslides, about 50 meters of the road has completely turned into a pile of debris, causing the traffic to come to a complete standstill. Due to this, many employees and common people are stranded on both sides of the road. The debris pile is so big that it is also difficult to walk.
A total of 176 roads in Sirmaur district were closed due to heavy rains. The Public Works Department has reinstated many of these roads while working on a war footing. There are still 90 roads closed, which is running fast.
Executive Engineer of Public Works Department Alok Jawneja said that two machines have been sent to the spot immediately as soon as the information about the road closure was received. He hoped that the way will be opened soon.
Many roads are closed in Nahan assembly constituency. According to the information received from the Public Works Department, Burma Papadi, Nalaka, Kolanwalabhund, Matar, Sheep and many other routes have also been closed due to landslides. In this difficult time, the employees and machinery of the Public Works Department are working day and night to restore roads. Due to the hard work of the employees, 24 hours work is going on in many dangerous places, so that traffic can be normalized as soon as possible.
