Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur today visited the disaster-affected area of the Karsog Assembly constituency. During this, he met the disaster-affected people and encouraged them. He expressed condolences to the disaster-affected people and prayed for the peace of the departed souls. He said that we will not lose courage. In this difficult time, we have to keep courage and take care of ourselves and our families during the rainy season. He said that unimaginable devastation has also occurred in my home assembly constituency, Seraj. Many people have lost their lives; the infrastructure has been destroyed to a great extent. Most of the roads have been closed. That is why it took some time to reach here.
Jairam Thakur, while talking to media representatives, said that there has been a lot of destruction in Karsog as well. People’s land, agriculture, orchards, and crops have been washed away. People’s personal properties have suffered a lot of damage. I request Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu to take out some time and personally visit the disaster-affected areas of Karsog. Only then will he be able to get a real idea of the damage caused here. Make an effective plan to provide relief accordingly. He said that the government is working but we have to do this work on a war footing. Here also people have not received even immediate relief. Immediate relief not only helps people immediately but also gives them courage. Along with this, immediate relief also makes people feel the readiness and presence of the government. He said that whatever assistance is being provided to Himachal Pradesh by the Central Government, the government should also make efforts for this to reach the affected people in a real sense.
Jairam Thakur reached Karsog via Shankar Dehra today and visited the disaster-affected areas of Sanarli, Sharkol Nala, Kutti, and Purana Bazar under Karsog and took stock of the damage. The disaster has made people its victims very cruelly everywhere. There are many people who are left with nothing. The disaster not only took away their lifelong earnings but also destroyed their means of earning. He said that immediately after the disaster, the Bharatiya Janata Party arranged relief material for the affected people. In which essential items like food items, rations, clothes, shoes, utensils, bedding, and blankets were delivered to the people. Along with this, the efforts made by people from all over the country to help those affected by the disaster are commendable. People cooperated a lot and on the strength of that, we have reached every disaster-affected area with relief material.
Jairam Thakur said that this tragedy is very big and its effects are also very serious. There are more challenges in the coming time, which the administration and the affected people will have to face. Those who want to help should also help us in rehabilitation. We have prepared the lists of the affected people. In such a situation, any generous gentleman who wants to directly help in their rehabilitation can do so. He can help in whatever way he wants. This time most of the disaster-affected areas are at very high altitudes and as soon as the rains end, it starts getting extremely cold there. In such a situation, it is very important to provide them safe shelter before the rains. Also, there are many public facilities that the disaster has taken away with itself. The cooperation of such generous gentlemen in their reconstruction will also provide great relief to the affected people. Jairam Thakur expressed his gratitude to all the people who have helped the disaster-affected people with body, mind, and money so far and requested them to help people as much as possible. During this time, BJP State General Secretary Bihari Lal, Balh MLA Indra Singh Gandhi, BJP Organisational District Sunder Nagar District President and former MLA Hira Lal, BJP former MLA from Shillai Baldev Tomar, Karsog MLA Deep Raj and local officials and workers were also with him.
