The Legal Aid Clinic of Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, in collaboration with Dr. BR Ambedkar Legal Aid and Awareness, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of HPNLU, Shimla, successfully conducted an informative and interactive session for the students of Government Middle Senior Secondary School, Ghanahatti. The session, part of the Vidhi Vimarsh initiative, aimed to raise awareness about the critical issue of digital rights, focusing on topics such as Cyberbullying and Online Sexual Harassment, while providing students with crucial knowledge on the legal recourse available to them. The session also included simplified explanations of key provisions from the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The session sought to address the pressing need for digital literacy, especially given the growing penetration of technology among younger generations. The audience, primarily senior students, actively participated in discussions, raising pertinent questions and engaging in a thoughtful exchange regarding the various legal protections available to them in the digital space. The session aimed not only to inform but also to empower the students with the knowledge to navigate digital platforms safely and responsibly.
The session was organized by Dr. Chandreshwari Minhas (Chairperson), Dr. Ved Prakash Sharma (Faculty Member), and Saloni Agarwal (Student Secretary), with invaluable support from the Legal Aid Clinic of HPNLU, Shimla. The initiative has been part of the university’s ongoing commitment to community outreach and legal education.
