Free legal aid and information about the Motor Vehicles Act was provided to the people.
Chamba, February 28
A legal services literacy camp was organized today in the Panchayat Samiti Hall of Gram Panchayat Mahla, courtesy of the District Legal Services Authority, Chamba. The camp’s purpose was to make citizens aware of their legal rights and the free legal aid available.
The Deputy Chief of Free Legal Aid, Defense Counsel, attended the event and provided detailed information about the various provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. He explained that this Act is an important law governing vehicle registration, driving licenses, road safety regulations, and traffic management in India.
He said that it is mandatory for drivers and vehicle owners to wear helmets, fasten seat belts, carry valid documents, and obey traffic signals. Penalties apply for violating these rules, so everyone should follow road safety rules.
Advocate T.C. Sharma, while informing the people present about the free legal aid scheme, said that the Legal Services Authority provides free lawyers and legal advice to the poor, women, senior citizens, disabled and persons belonging to the Scheduled Castes.
On this occasion, various departmental officers also shared information about the public welfare schemes of their respective departments.
It is noteworthy that from time to time, legal literacy camps are organised by the District Legal Services Authority in various sub-divisions of the district, so that the general public can be made aware about their rights, duties and available legal aid.
