Shimla, March 16:
A villager was seriously injured after being attacked by a leopard inside a cowshed in Khagna village of Chopal subdivision in Shimla district on Monday.
According to local sources, the incident occurred when the villager entered the cowshed for routine work. A leopard hiding inside suddenly attacked him, leaving him with severe injuries on the head, arms, back and face. The victim raised an alarm following which family members and nearby villagers rushed to the spot and managed to rescue him.
The injured person was initially taken to a nearby health facility for first aid. Considering the seriousness of his injuries, doctors later referred him to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla for advanced treatment.
The incident has created panic among residents of the area. Villagers have demanded that the Forest Department take immediate steps to prevent such attacks and ensure the safety of people and livestock in the region.
Forest officials are expected to visit the area and assess the situation.
