The Asia’s largest Himachal Taxi Operator Union Manali election held on March 19. The Manali union, considered Asia’s largest taxi union, has more than 3,000 operators, including women. Union elections are held after every 2 years.
The old executive of the union has once again filed nominations. Purna Chand Polu for the head of the union, Purna Chand Shahrukh for the vice-president, general secretary Sandeep and treasurer Kurum Dutt filed nominations. A total of 16 people have filed nominations so far. The date for withdrawal of nominations has been fixed for March 12.
This time voting will be held in the union elections on March 19 and the result will be declared on March 20. Earlier, always on the day of voting, the results were also removed on the same night, but this time a time of 1 day has been kept between the voting and the result.
Security taken during the election will not be returned. Giving information, union member Rajeev Karwa said that Rs 10,000 security has been taken from the post of head, 8000 from deputy head, 6000 from general secretary and 5000 from treasurer, which will not be returned.
The old executive has also kept the account of income and expenditure incurred during its tenure in front of the union members. At present, the union has deposits of Rs 36 lakh 48 thousand 128 in 4 banks.
