Mandi
The Mandaviya Mahotsav is going to be organized for the first time in the history of Choti Kashi Mandi, the city of Mandaviya Rishi. This initiative is being taken by the Municipal Corporation Mandi to celebrate the Mandavya Festival in Chhoti Kashi. The festival will be held tomorrow i. e. Friday on the auspicious occasion of Purnima.
During the festival, first, Lord Rajmadhav Rai will be worshiped. After that, a grand procession will be taken out from Mandi town to Mandavya Shila on the banks of Beas river and a huge havan yagna will be organised there. While all the gods and goddesses of the region will be specially present to place the four moons in this festival, a grand exhibition depicting the history of Choti Kashi will also be put up on the banks of the river Beas.
Giving details, Municipal Corporation Mandi Mayor Virendra Bhatta said that the procession will start from Chowhatta Bazar in the city. After this, it will pass through Moti Bazar, Samkhetra Mohalla and the temple of Baba Bhootnath, the presiding deity of the city, and will come to the Mandavya Shila on the bank of the Beas River. Many religious and school organizations of Mandi town are also coming forward and cooperating for this festival. He appealed to all the devotees to participate in the festival and make it a grand success.
The city of Mandi is called the Taposthali of Rishi Mandaviya. It is believed that in ancient times the sage Mandavya had done penance for many years on the rock on the bank of the river Beas (Vedic name Vipasha). This rock is still present in the middle of the Beas river near the Bhuli bridge of the city. This rock is known as Mandavya rock and it is also believed that the city Kam Mandi has been named after the Mandavya sage.
