Massive Crowd at Seri Stage
The Holi celebration at the historic Seri Stage in Mandi is known across the state for its grandeur. People not only from the town but also from nearby areas gathered in large numbers to participate. Due to Bhadra, the festival was organized a day earlier this year.
By around 10 am, crowds had started assembling at the venue, and within a short span, nearly 5,000 people were present. Revelers danced to loud music and celebrated by smearing colors and throwing gulal in the air.
Beer Can Thrown Amid Celebrations
Amid the celebrations, some unruly elements reportedly disrupted the atmosphere. According to eyewitnesses, while people were engrossed in the festivities, someone hurled a beer can into the air. Due to the heavy crowd, it remains unclear who threw it. Some attendees claimed it might have been a color spray canister.
Woman Left Bleeding
Unfortunately, the can struck a young woman on the head. Reports later indicated that it was a color can that hit her, causing a deep injury. She started bleeding profusely, leading to panic at the venue. It took considerable effort for people to pull her out of the dense crowd.
Rushed to Hospital
The injured woman was eventually taken out safely and rushed to the Regional Hospital for treatment. The unfortunate incident cast a shadow over the otherwise vibrant Holi celebrations.
Security Arrangements in Place
Authorities had made special arrangements for the event. Separate sections were designated for men and women, and police personnel along with a Quick Response Team (QRT) were deployed at the venue. Despite these measures, some intoxicated miscreants created disturbance, resulting in the incident.
Police are expected to review the security footage and identify those responsible.
