Implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) and latest Online learning techniques were discussed at a meeting of the Governing Body of Shoolini University on Wednesday.
Chancellor of Shoolini University and chairman of the committee Prof P K Khosla welcomed the members and highlighted the achievements of the University. He apprised the members that Shoolini University is following research driven path and as a result it has earned a place amongst 200 Impact Factor Ranking (2022) Universities as per THE (Times Higher Education) World Ranking 2022, while in the QS ranking it was placed in the 801-1000 group with 21st rank in India.
Dr Rajesh Kashyap, nominee of the Government, evinced keen interest in the Online and Distance Education system being introduced in the University. He appreciated the overall achievements of the University and assured the university to take up the case for the award of Padma Bhushan to Prof P.K. Khosla with appropriate authorities.
Mr Mohinder Nath Sofat another nominee of the Government also appreciated the achievements of the University and assured his full support to the university for achieving its goal in global ranking.
Mr Vishal Anand, Pro Chancellor, said that the university was among the first in the country to adopt the NEP from the new session where the fourth year of the degree programme will be dedicated to research only. He also presented the annual budget of the university which was approved by the committee.
Dr Ashoo Khosla, Vice President, Innovation and Marketing and chief learning officer of the University gave a presentation on On-line education. She explained that Shoolini is the only private university in the State to have qualified for on-line and distance education because of its rank amongst top 100 NIRF ranked university consecutively for two years.
Dr Dinesh Singh, Former Vice Chancellor Delhi University said that students must be exposed to English Literature through foundation courses and also appreciated the university’s online learning system.
Dr A.K. Mukhopadhyay, Former Advisor Biotechnology, Government of India, suggested that the university need to connect with industry so that the students are able to acquire new ideas.
Dr R.S.Paroda, Former Secretary DARE and Director General ICAR advised the university to commercialise the patents filed by its researchers. He also desired that efforts must be made to establish a Centre of Excellence for Himalayan Biodiversity rather Centre of Excellence for Himalayan Agro-Biodiversity.
Ms Varsha Patil, Director, Rankings and Accreditation gave a detailed presentation on Shoolini Achievements Rankings and Accreditations.
