The annual election of Chandigarh Press Club was held yesterday where Nalin Acharya becomes president,Ramesh Handa as senior vice president whereas Deepender Thakur & Amandeep Kaur was elected as a vice president,Photographer Ajay Jalandhari won the post of secretary while Ankush Mahajan got joint secretary post and Jagtar Singh Bhullar got general secretary post.
Nalin Acharya got 307 votes while Barinder Singh Rawat got 274 votes. Nalin Acharya has won by a margin of 33 votes. This time a total of 588 votes were cast in the club elections, out of which 7 votes were rejected. Ramesh Handa secured 309 votes for the post of senior vice president and defeated Jaisingh Chhibbad with 271 votes by a margin of 38 votes. While 8 votes were rejected.
Amandeep Kaur captured the post of vice president with 291 votes. She defeated Arshdeep Arshi by a margin of 9 votes. Arshi had to be satisfied with 282 votes and a total of 15 votes were rejected. Similarly, Deepender Thakur, who contested for the first time for the post of vice-president, got 287 votes and defeated Karnail Singh Rana by a margin of 2 votes. Rana got a total of 285 votes and 16 votes were rejected. Similarly, Jagtar Singh Bhullar, who contested for the post of general secretary on behalf of Nalin Acharya, had to face defeat from Umesh Sharma. Sharma got 298 votes while Bhullar got 280 votes.
Photographer Ajay Jalandhari, who contested for the post of secretary, won with the highest number of 317 votes while Sushil Raj had to be satisfied with 260 votes. Similarly, Amarpreet Singh got 291 votes while Tarun Bhajni got 281 votes for the post of joint secretary-1. Thus, Ankush Mahajan got 305 votes and Naveen Tyagi got 269 votes for the post of joint secretary-2. Dushyant Pundir won the treasurer’s post by getting 294 votes. He defeated Mukesh Athwal with a margin of 11 votes i.e. 283.
