The case of demolition of the illegal structure of Sanjauli Mosque was heard in the Municipal Corporation Commissioner Court on Saturday. In this, the mosque committee has asked for additional time from the court to demolish 3 floors of the mosque. After studying the status report presented by the junior engineer, the court has scheduled the next hearing on the case on March 15. The court has given additional time of about two and a half months to the mosque committee to demolish the remaining illegal construction. The next hearing is set for March 15. During the hearing, the Waqf Board has not been able to present the revenue record before the court regarding the ownership rights of the land of Sanjauli Mosque. For this, additional time has been demanded to get the records amended.
The status report on this matter has been presented before the court on behalf of the Municipal Corporation Junior Engineer. It reported that so far only 50 per cent of the work of dismantling 3 illegal floors has been completed, while 50 per cent of the work still remains. The mosque committee has sought additional time from the court to complete this. At the same time, a hearing has also been held in the court regarding the validity of the lower 2 floors of the mosque. No record has been submitted before the court regarding whose land it is. Waqf Board’s lawyer said in the court that an application has been filed with the Revenue Agency regarding revenue taxation. Therefore, time has been sought to present the land records. The court has given time till 15 March.
On October 5, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner’s Court had ordered the demolition of the upper three floors of Sanjauli Mosque. In this, the court had given time till 20 December to the Mosque Committee and the Waqf Board. Under these orders, the mosque committee has to demolish the illegal construction at its own expense. Mosque Committee Chairman Mohammad Latif says that the committee is following the orders of the court. For this, additional time has been sought from the court. On Saturday, 50 cases of illegal construction in the city were heard in the Commissioner’s Court.
