Health department organized awareness program in village Paniyali
Hamirpur 06 August. On the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week, the Health Department on Wednesday organized an awareness program at Anganwadi Center Paniyali under Primary Health Center Kot as per the instructions of Chief Medical Officer Hamirpur Dr. Praveen Chaudhary.
Addressing the people on this occasion, Public Education and Information Officer of the Department, Birbal Verma said that the main objective of the World Breastfeeding Week celebrated every year is to make people aware of the importance of mother’s milk for infants, so that our future generation is healthy and well-nourished.
He said that the maximum mental development of children takes place till the age of 2 years. Therefore, maximum attention should be paid to their nutrition during this period. Mother’s milk is the best diet for the physical and mental development of children. The Public Education and Information Officer said that mother’s milk is a wonderful gift of nature for the child. All types of vitamins and minerals are found in this nectar-like drink. The first thick milk of the mother within an hour of birth, which is also called colostrum, is full of nutrients. It protects the child from many diseases. This must be fed to the child.
Balveer Verma said that during the first 6 months, the mother should feed her child only her own milk. Do not give any other food item. After 6 months, the child should be given home-made supplementary food and breastfeeding should be continued till the age of 2 years. Breastfeeding is safe for the child even in case of diarrhea, pneumonia and other diseases. Breastfeeding is also beneficial for the mother. Due to this, the mother’s uterus contracts quickly and comes to the right place. The risk of breast and uterine cancer also reduces.
About 50 women of the village including health worker Anita Thakur, Anganwadi worker Meera Devi and Asha worker Ranjana participated in the programme.
