Patients at IGMC will no longer face difficulties getting MRIs. The installation of a new MRI machine at the hospital is nearly complete. This will benefit patients by eliminating the long waiting times for MRIs. The administration purchased the machine at a cost of 25 crore rupees. While installation took time, IGMC will now have two MRI machines.
With both machines, patients will be relieved of long waiting times. Currently, many patients go to private clinics and hospitals for MRIs, resulting in significant expenses. MRIs at government hospitals start at 2,600 rupees, while at private hospitals and clinics, they start at 5,000 rupees.
At IGMC, treatments are free under Himcare and the Ayushman Card. Patients will now receive the best possible care at a government hospital. As IGMC is the largest hospital in the state, hundreds of patients from across the state come here for treatment. Therefore, proper facilities are essential for patients. The administration claims that the new MRI machine will be operational soon. Previously, some patients at IGMC returned home without an MRI. This was because they were given a 3-4 month-long appointment. Consequently, patients either went to private hospitals or skipped the MRI altogether. Patients often abandon their treatment mid-way.
Patients at IGMC will soon have access to MRIs with the new machine. Installation work is underway and will be completed soon. Patients will no longer face any difficulties in obtaining any type of MRI.
– Dr. Aman, Deputy MS, IGMC.
The installation of a state-of-the-art MRI machine at IGMC is a significant relief for patients. For a long time, long queues and delayed appointments for MRIs had been a major problem for patients. The new machine’s launch will not only increase testing capacity but also speed up treatment, providing patients with timely reports. Critical, emergency, and remote patients will now receive prompt care. This step will not only strengthen the hospital’s medical services but also mark a significant improvement in the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
