The Faculty of Applied Sciences and Biotechnology( FASB) at Shoolini University celebrated National Science Day to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by C.V. Raman in 1928.
The chief guest of the day was Mr. M.V. Dhekane, a scientist from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The event began with a welcome address by Chancellor Shoolini University Prof. P K Khosla, who highlighted the significance of pioneers like C.V. Raman, Hargobind Khurana, Chandrasekhar, and Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar in the field of science. He inspired the audience with the vision of Shoolini University producing a Nobel Laureate in the future, urging students and faculty to aim high in their scientific endeavours.
Mr. M.V. Dhekane, in his keynote address, took the attendees through the illustrious journey of India’s space missions, elaborating on the past, present, and future of ISRO’s exploration efforts. His detailed presentation on the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) missions, the future Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III (GSLV MK III), the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), and the Aditya-L1 mission was informative and insightful. Mr. Dhekane also emphasised the importance of learning from failures and the value of reviewing mechanisms to ensure success in future missions.
Shoolini University’s researchers from various departments were also felicitated at the event for their outstanding contributions to research in 2023. Research scholars from the biotechnology department also gave presentations on their research work.
Prof. Sourabh Kulshrestha, Dean of Research and Development at Shoolini University, highlighted the importance of recognising research achievements on National Science Day. Prof. Kulshrestha stated that, with the right support, anyone can become a researcher.
In his closing remarks, Prof. Kulshrestha extended heartfelt thanks to Mr. Dhekane for sharing his invaluable insights on ISRO’s contributions and achievements.
